Ten residents of a Scotch Plains apartment building woke to a two-alarm fire on Friday morning.

The fire in a two-story apartment building on Country Club Lane appeared to be contained to one or two second-floor units. EMS crews responding did not take anyone away from the scene.

News 12 New Jersey, in a broadcast report, said that witnesses saw the fire start in a kitchen and that construction features helped contain the fire to one unit.

Following the fire, a crew from Elizabethtown Gas came to the apartments to check on gas lines.

Toniann Antonelli contributed to this report.
