Both sides traded allegations Tuesday involving campaign finance.

Councilman Ras Baraka assailed a pro-Shavar Jeffries group for not disclosing the names of anonymous donors. Baraka claims Newark First has spent $2 million on advertising in the race.

Newark First held a news conference Tuesday to claim that Baraka has accepted donations in 2012 and 2013 from companies that have no-bid contracts with the city. If true, that would be in violation of city policy.

The Jeffries group also criticized Baraka for a video clip in which he's seen talking to gang members. The group claims the video is derogatory to Latinos, but Baraka claims he was speaking out against gangs.

The election will be held May 13.
