NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Fauna

Fauna is a sweet, 10-month-old playful cat at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter. She grew up in the shelter with her sister, who was adopted last week. There were so many kittens at the shelter during the last kitten season that Fauna and her sister were overlooked, which is something that happens every year to a few deserving kittens in need of a home. Fauna is getting ready to celebrate her first birthday and her only wish is to be in a home of her own, with a loving family. She's an energetic cat who enjoys playing with her toys and hiding them. She's also an affectionate love bug, who just wants to be held and cuddled. Fauna is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations and FIV/FeLV negative.

If you're interested in meeting Fauna or fostering/adopting her, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call us at 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Mikey

Mikey is a happy young Labrador Retriever and American Staffordshire Terrier mix. He likes to play and go on walks, but needs some training on manners and patience like any young dog does. Mikey lacks focus when there is a distraction, but he’s very smart and knows how to listen. He will sit patiently when his leash is being put on so that he can go on a walk. He's extremely friendly and loves to shower affection on people!

If you’re interested in learning more about Mikey or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Walter Griffin

Walter Griffin, currently at the Edison Municipal Animal Shelter, is a Wirehaired Dachshund with a cute, scruffy face. You will notice him right away by his signature short legs and his extra long body. He is such a sweetheart who draws you in by just one glance of his flirty eyes. Walter Griffin gets so happy when people come to see him, but he can be a bit bashful at first. Once he realizes everything is fine, he appreciates all the attention and will wag his tail a mile a minute. He'll even sneak in a few kisses. He likes being outdoors and walks very nicely on a leash. He's a very kind and gentle dog overall. Walter Griffin came in as a stray and is on the thin side, so we are giving him special food to get him to his ideal weight. He's sure to blossom in his forever, loving home. In general, since Dachshunds have a long back, they can be easily injured if they are not handled properly. You can learn some basic information about the breed, by clicking here.

If you're interested in meeting Walter Griffin or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org or call 732-248-7278. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
