Marie Munn was charged in May with theft by deception and tampering with public records or information.

The Star-Ledger reported Thursday that Munn submitted her resignation Jan. 15.

Authorities say Munn understated her household income, which exceeded the limit by as much as $100,000 in one year.

Munn could face up to five years in prison if convicted at her upcoming trial.
She says she repaid the school district after learning her children had received free lunches since 2006.
