Drunk Bus Driver Pleads Guilty to Child Endangerment
A southern New Jersey school bus driver who admitted driving drunk with 25 students aboard has pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges.
Burlington County prosecutors announced Monday that their plea deal with 48-year-old Carole Crockett calls for her to receive a 3-year prison term when she's sentenced in January 2014.
Prosecutors say the Shamong resident was working for a private transportation company when she was arrested in November 2011.
As Crockett drove 25 students home from the Westampton Middle School, many of them texted or called their parents to report that Crockett was driving erratically. Several parents then called school officials, who called police.
Authorities soon found Crockett at another school, where she had gone to pick up another group of students.
