Three women could face termination from their jobs at the Lutheran Social Ministries of New Jersey today for not getting the flu shot, sparking controversy over whether employers should have the right to fire you for not getting a vaccine.

Dr. Charles Simone, former attending physician to President Ronald Reagan, joined the discussion this morning to shed some light on the effectiveness of the flu shot, and how to keep healthy without it.

“The problem is this," said Simone. "There’s 200 viruses that we know about that cause the flu, and at best flu vaccines might be effective against only influenza A and B, which represents about 10% of all these viruses.”

So even if you do get the shot, you could be at risk of getting sick.

Dr. Simone suggested a list of precautions you can take in order to avoid catching a cold this year, including gargling hydrogen peroxide, taking zinc, frequently washing your hands and face, taking Vitamin C, and staying hydrated. Check out the full list by clicking the link below.
