Don’t Text & Drive [PHOTOS]
Seriously! Don't text and drive! You'd think it would be one of those "duh!" things in our lives!
Its just what one of the former radio consultants in my life calls "C-S."
COMMON SENSE!
But, not every New Jersey driver is using "C-S!"
Lately, I'm seeing more and more signs, like above, with the not-so-subtle reminder!
Just a few quick texting and driving facts:
Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55mph, that's enough time to cover the length of a football field.
A texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into a crash than a non-texting driver.
Using a cell phone while driving, whether it's handheld or hands-free, delays a driver's reactions as much as having a blood alcohol concentration at the legal limit of .08 percent.
Drivers who use hand-held devices are four times as likely to get into crashes serious enough to injure themselves.
49% of drivers with cell phones, under the age of 35, send or read text messages while driving.
60% of drivers use cell phones while driving.

A recent American Automobile Association (AAA) study shows that teen drivers were distracted almost a quarter of the time they were behind the wheel. Electronic devices, such as texting, emails, and downloading music, were among the biggest distractions, accounting for 7% of the distractions identified!
Don't be a statistic...or a sad footnote to a "New Jersey Fast Traffic" report...
So...do as the sign says, New Jersey!
Its just a little..."C-S!"
