State wildlife officials say a deer that crashed through a glass door at central New Jersey mall and got trapped inside a store's storage room has been safely returned to the wild.

The 2-year-old buck was not injured in Monday's incident at Monmouth Mall in Eatontown.

Witnesses say the deer slipped on the mall's marble floor after crashing through the glass door around 10 a.m. Monday. It then ran into a nearby shoe and clothing store on the mall's lower level and charged at a store employee.

The deer was later seen looking into mirrors inside the store before wildlife officials shot it with a tranquilizer. It was then removed from the mall around 1 p.m.

The buck was later released in the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area in Upper Freehold.
