The Coast Guard's only basic training facility is getting a new commander.

Capt. Todd Prestidge will relieve Capt. Bill Kelly at Training Center Cape May on Friday.

Kelly has led the Coast Guard's only training center for enlisted personnel for more than three years. The service says he was responsible for the initial training of more than 20 percent of the Coast Guard's more than 39,000 current active duty and reserve enlisted members.

Prestidge has been stationed at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, where he served as the service's chief of the Office of Military Personnel. He also has served aboard more than five Coast Guard cutters, including several as a commanding officer.

Training Center Cape May is Cape May County's largest employer.
