Christie Gets High Marks After Sandy [AUDIO]

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Governor Christie has received high marks from residents for his response and leadership.

One political analyst says that could help his chances if he decides to run for re-election next year.

"He was right out front, took a leadership role and put partisanship aside both during and after the storm," said Patrick Murray, a political scientist at the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

While there are no official polls or numbers to prove if residents feel the same way, Murray says right now Christie is sitting in a very good position.

"I would not be surprised to see him above 60 percent in his job approval rating, maybe even higher than that."

Murray says Christie also handled President Obama's visit well.

"He put the election and politics aside and welcomed the President into New Jersey because he realizes how important it is for the federal and state governments to work together no matter what side of the aisle you're on."

Another possible reason for Christie's high marks, he's a 'Jersey guy,' said Murray.

"I think you win a lot of points when people understand that you're feeling their pain the same way they are."
