Cedar Grove Man Sentenced on Child Porn Charge

Federal prosecutors say a northern New Jersey man has been sentenced to nearly 13 years in prison for collecting numerous images of young children being sexually abused.

Curt Scholz of Cedar Grove received the sentence Tuesday after a judge ruled that he faced a mandatory minimum sentence, citing prior state convictions for relevant offenses. The 48-year-old Scholz also will have to serve five years of supervised release once he's freed from prison.

Scholz had pleaded guilty to a complaint charging him with possession of child pornography. He admitted having more than 150 images, including some that depicted minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct with other children and adults.
