A Canadian man captured at Newark Liberty International Airport last year has admitted smuggling more than 800 grams of cocaine into the United States from Costa Rica.

Twenty-four-year-old Azariah Wilson faces up to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to a complaint charging him with knowingly and intentionally importing 500 grams or more of cocaine. He'll be sentenced May 2.

Prosecutors say Wilson ingested 56 pellets of cocaine -- nearly 883 grams overall -- before boarding a flight from Costa Rica to Newark in June. He had planned to fly from Newark to Ottawa, but never made that flight.
