Police are trying to determine if there's a connection to a rash of smash and grab burglaries in three northern New Jersey towns.

Police say 10 businesses were targeted between Saturday night and Sunday morning in New Milford, Garfield and Clifton. Most of the businesses were restaurants.

New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro tells The Record newspaper it's unusual to have that many retail burglaries at one time.

The chief says no alarms sounded so police are trying to determine whether the intruders disabled the alarms before entering.
