Bridgeton police responding to reports of shots fired found the man at an apartment complex around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say he was sitting in a car when two men approached him, pointed a handgun at him and demanded money. The victim got out of the vehicle and attempted to grab the handgun, thinking it was fake.

The assailant then fired five shots, and the victim was hit once in the hand and once in the thigh. He was treated at a hospital and released later Tuesday.

No arrests have been made.
