"Our drug laws in this country as a whole need a revolution of common sense and compassion," says Booker in a clip from the special "Weed 3: The Marijuana Revolution" hosted by Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Gupta, CNN's  chief medical correspondent, also wrote an op-ed piece for CNN stating his support for the legalization of marijuana.

Booker is partnering with Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Democrats Kirsten Gillibrand of New York to sponsor a bill creating the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion and Respect States Act, or CARERS Act.  The bill would remove federal prohibitions on medical marijuana in 23 states where it’s already legal.

“Let’s stop the pot hypocrisy,” Booker told Gupta.  “We now have had three presidents that have admitted to smoking marijuana. People that are in public office all throughout the Senate have said, hey, I’ve smoked marijuana recreationally.”

The special airs on Sunday night.
