Bill to Increase NJ Road Rage Penalties Passes State Legislature [POLL]

Legislation to toughen road rage penalties has unanimously passed both chambers of New Jersey's Legislature and now heads to Gov. Christie for consideration.

The bill was named after road rage victim Jessica Rogers, who was riding with a friend when they were cut off by another car.

Rogers was left paralyzed from the chest down. She says her friend became angry and chased after the other car. They were cut off again and the car they were in hit a telephone pole.

The driver spent four months in jail. Under the revised statute, a driver could be sentenced to as much as five years in jail and be fined $15,000.

The bill passed Thursday 39-0 in the Senate and 80-0 in the Assembly.
