State authorities approved the move at the request of the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office, which had been handling the case.

The Camden County Prosecutor's Office will now handle the case, though it will still be litigated in Gloucester County.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Sean Dalton said Wednesday that his preference was for his office to continue prosecuting the case to its conclusion."

But he said the change was necessary because Autumn Pasquale's family members have hired an attorney and announced plans to sue the prosecutor's office. He says that decision has created a potential conflict that also compromises the office's ability "to discharge its duties" under state law.
