Just because the kids are heading back to school next week doesn't mean the family fun has to end. In fact, we'd like to think the fun is just getting started.

New Jersey Family recently revealed its first-ever New Jersey Family Ultimate Bucket List. The list, which is divided into four categories — Outdoor Faves, Fun Stuff, Good Eats, and Me Time — has 27 top picks chosen by the magazine's readers.

New Jersey Family Editorial Director Dina El Nabli said the magzine received hundreds of votes from all over the state.

"The best part of putting together this amazing list was hearing from our readers, users, and followers," El Nabli said.

And while some of the picks are no-brainers, some were a surprise to the staff, according to El Nabli, who added that it was fun for them to discover for the first time some of their readers' picks.

On this podcast episode, we talk to El Nabli about the list, focusing on seven of the winners from the list:

    • Best Amusement Park — Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson
    • Best Beach — Wildwood
    • Best Boardwalk — Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant
    • Best Downtown — Red Bank
    • Best Garden — Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit
    • Best Family Getaway — Great Wolf Lodge in the Pocono Mountains
    • Best Diner — Top's Diner in East Newark
