Congressman Tom MacArthur joined me to discuss the funding battle between President Obama and members of the state legislature over keeping Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst open.

Listen to the clip above to find out what MacArthur is doing to defend this military base, and why he feels it's important to our country's safety.

Last year fear of closure caused local officials to emphasize the value of this hub by pointing out that it's the only tri-service military base in the country, and that it "can collect a lot of reserve guard and active forces for mobilization for any mission," because of its location in the Northeast.

However, the base remains a target for de-funding as the Obama administration continues its quest to return American military holdings to pre-WWII levels.
