WINSLOW TOWNSHIP — An 8-year-old boy was in critical condition after being pulled from a swimming pool in the Sicklerville section of Winslow Township, police said Tuesday.

Winslow Township Police responded to a residence on Scenic View Drive at 4:51 p.m. after receiving a report of a child who "was in distress in a swimming pool," police said in a statement.

When officer arrived at the home, they immediately contacted local EMS, the Winslow Township Fire Department and Virtua Paramedics to give the boy first aid, police said.

Police say the child was then transported to JFK Hospital in Washington Township for evaluation and later "transported to to Children's Hospital in Philadelphia in critical condition." Police have not disclosed the exact nature of his medical condition or how the boy ended up in the swimming pool.

Winslow Police and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the incident, police said.
