Three former employees of a central New Jersey day care center where a 9-week-old boy died last year have been sentenced to probation.

Tanya Choy of Martinsville, Lorie McDermott of Milltown, and Blanca Jimenez of Edison were charged with child endangerment for failing to adequately care for the boy.

An investigation revealed that the child died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome after being placed face-down in a crib and not attended to for two hours at the Above and Beyond Child Care Center in Highland Park last September.

The Middlesex County prosecutor's office announced Friday that Choy will serve three years of probation and her former co-workers will serve two years each as part of a plea deal. They'll also pay the family $1,700 each to cover expenses.

The charges will be dismissed once the probationary terms end.
