A 12-year-old saved her 14-year-old cousin from a possible abduction early Wednesday morning in Paterson, authorities say.

NJ.com cites Paterson police saying the girls were walking near East 18th Street and Hamilton Avenue around 12:45 a.m. when a man described as being in his late 40s pulled up in his red Toyota Camry and demanded they get in his car so he could take them home. When the girls refused the ride the man out of his car and grabbed the 14-year-old's arm, authorities reportedly said.

The 12-year-old kicked the man, causing the man to let the 14-year-old go — though he chases the two with a baseball bat before driving off, authorities said.

The man is described as wearing glasses, a dark blue shirt, and having a tattoo on one hand. Anyone with information can contact Paterson Police at (973) 321-1111.
