Unfortunately one of the things left out of the conversation about Highland Park's decision to create gender neutral bathrooms is the opinions of parents and psychiatrists, among others.

Highland Park's decision was based on fear. It was fear of being labeled as a bigot if they did not accommodate a small group of kids who are struggling with this. It's a disservice to the parents and the majority of students to not have a larger conversation about it. Highland Park just went and changed the policy instead.

It's important that we not automatically judge people as bigots because it shuts down a greater conversation with a ton of complexity to it.

What do you think? Does it make you a bigot just because you have an alternate opinion? Cast your vote below.
