NEWARK (AP) — Police continued to look for a suspect Friday in the fatal shooting of a Newark teenager who was days away from graduating high school.

The shooting happened on South 11th Street around 10:30 p.m. Thursday. Police responding to a report of gunshots found 19-year-old Tammy Henderson dead from a gunshot wound.

Newark school district officials tell NJ.com (http://bit.ly/1FdxSKz) that Henderson was set to graduate next week from Weequahic High School. Friends and neighbors said Henderson was a good friend and always willing to help. A teacher described her as quiet and respectable.

Police have not disclosed a motive or identified suspects in the slaying.

The county prosecutor's office is investigating. Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
