You may be surprised by Judi Franco’s new TV obsession

I sing. Can't help it. It's almost a tic I have where I don't even know I'm doing it. You know how people whistle absentmindedly? Well I sing.

And this ain't your soft little background tune, either. When I sing around my house or at work, it's full-blown belting. I'm too shy to do Karaoke, and I'm not a great singer, but I can definitely carry a tune, so for some reason, songs just pop into my head ANY TIME I'M NOT TALKING.

I drive my family crazy. Any time my kids talk they hear their words and phrases sung back at them in tunes, whether they're popular or obscure, old or current. If my kid says "Why can't we...anything", it's a full-out performance of "Why Cant We Be Friends".
If my husband says, "I'll be there at 7", it's The Jackson 5 song, and on and on. And I can't stop!

So imagine his dismay when my husband was doing his usual nightly endless channel surfing and he happened upon Direct TV's "Karaoke Channel".

Oh. My. Gosh.

Have you seen this thing? It's amazing! You don't have to wait through other drunk people's performances to be over, or sot there being jittery. It's all there at your fingertips on your TV screen.

It was the beginning of the end of my husband's long time ownership of the TV, and it's a genie I refuse to shove back into the bottle. Because you know the old expression"Dance like nobody's watching"? Well there's nothing like singing (loud) when nobody's listening.
