They played for the Trenton Thunder, the Yankees Double-A affiliate.

Youkilis, recovering from a back injury, flied out to shallow right in the first. Teixeira led off the second with a pop-out to the shortstop, who was playing to the first base side of the second base bag in the type of shift that major league defenses use against him.

Teixeira is recovering from a right wrist injury.

Each was expected to play about seven innings.

Both could rejoin the Yankees in time for the start of a series against the Boston Red Sox starting Friday.
