The teams made the announcement Thursday at Waterfront Park  where the Thunder play.

Trenton has been the Yankees' Class AA affiliate since 2003, after eight years as a farm team for the Boston Red Sox.

Their current agreement with the Yankees has two years left on it. The latest deal will extend the affiliation through 2022.

"We are both honored and humbled to remain part of the Yankee family for the next ten years," said Thunder President Joe Finley. "We are proud to be an integral part of the premier player development system in all of Major League Baseball and look forward to remaining in that role for many years to come."

Partly because of Trenton's proximity to New York, it's a prime spot for rehabilitation assignments.
