Camden County prosecutors say a man who was shot multiple times in his car tried to flee his assailants by driving away but instead crashed into a tree just two blocks away.

Rayshine Burks was shot around 12:30 a.m. Sunday as he sat in his car outside a food market in Camden. The 24-year-old city resident was taken to a hospital after the crash, but was pronounced dead there a short time later.

It was not immediately clear if Burks died from his gunshot wounds, injuries he sustained in the crash or both. And authorities did not provide further details on the shooting, including a possible motive or what type of weapon was used.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting or the crash.

No arrests have been made.
