Gov. Chris Christie says he would be more insistent in ordering people to evacuate the barrier islands before Hurricane Sandy if he had his storm response to do over.

Christie says he hasn't had a lot of time to assess his storm decisions since the superstorm socked the state in late October. But when an elementary school girl asked at a Shore town hall what he'd do differently, the governor thought it over.

He acknowledged he was more tentative as Sandy bore down because beaches were mostly undamaged last year after he'd ordered people "the hell off the beach" before tropical storm Irene.

Christie says "it weighs on me" that some people ignored the evacuation order and subsequently died.

Forty deaths were blamed on the superstorm in New Jersey.
