The worker suffered head injuries and a broken leg in the accident, which occurred late Tuesday afternoon in Carteret.

Authorities tell NJ.com that the crane hit a cell phone tower on its way down. The worker was expelled from the crane and was left hanging about 20 to 25 feet above the ground.

The worker's name was not released. Authorities say he was conscious and responsive when emergency responders responded and later took him to a hospital.

Further details on the worker's condition were not disclosed.
