A Woodbridge woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for stealing $302,000 from a physician while working as his office manager in North Brunswick.

Joan Baskakow, 51, has been ordered to repay the money that was taken between April 2005 and April 2012.  So far, $90,000 has been repaid.

Baskakow pleaded guilty to one count of theft by unlawful taking on April 2, 2013.

She was charged after authorities determined she had taken 680 checks in various amounts and deposited them in a personal account.  The investigation began after the physician uncovered the thefts and contacted police.
