Reports Orlando gay club shooting victim was from NJ are mistaken

Widely publicized reports a man killed in the Orlando gay club Pulse on Sunday that left 50 people dead had been from New Jersey are mistaken, according to the man's loved ones.

Peter O. Gonzalez-Cruz — a 22-year-old known to family and friends as Peter Ommy — had listed himself among the Colonia High School Class of 2013 on his Facebook page Facebook page, prompting the confusion. But friend Willy Perez told New Jersey 101.5 Monday Ommy in fact attended the similarly named Colonial High School in Orlando

A person describing himself on Twitter as Ommy's uncle said he was born in Puerto Rico and lived in Orlando as well.
