Elizabeth police told The Star-Ledger that the shooting happened early Monday at an Elm Street home, but they declined to say what prompted the shooting or provide details on the woman's condition. They referred all questions to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, which will review the shooting.

No other injuries were reported.

The woman's name was not released.
