Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park says 52-year-old Vanessa Fowler of Elizabeth must serve nearly 10 years before she becomes eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday.

Fowler had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in the September 2012 stabbing of 47-year-old Tyrone Fowler, also of Elizabeth.

Prosecutors say the pair got into a heated argument, and Vanessa Fowler stabbed her brother once in the chest as she attempted to force him out of her room.

Authorities have not said what the siblings were arguing about.
