A Perth Amboy woman who went on the run after killing two dogs has pleaded guilty to three counts of animal abuse and been sentenced, the NJ SPCA said.

Investigators for the NJ SPCA Humane Police said they were notified by the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department that as it evicted Shannie L. Munoz, 34 from an apartment in June 2015, officers found a dead pit bull in the bathtub.

A second was found stuffed in a box under the apartment's stairs.

A warrant for $5,000 was issued after Munoz missed several court dates before her arrest, the NJ SPCA said. Police said Munoz had abandoned the apartment.

She came back to collect mail, but kept missing court dates, the NJSPCA said.

Munoz pleaded guilty to charges in Perth Amboy Municipal Court July 21 Two of the counts were civil violations and the third, needlessly killing a living animal, was a criminal charge.

She was fined $3,000 and sentenced to 60 days in the Middlesex County Corrections Center. She was also banned from owning or possessing any animals for 10 years.
