State police say a woman was killed and a man was injured in a fiery two-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway in southern New Jersey.

But it's still not clear what caused the crash, which occurred around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday in a northbound lane near milemarker 38 in Egg Harbor Township.

The car driven by 38-year-old Dawn Gonzalez of Egg Harbor Township caught fire after the collision. Authorities say a passer-by pulled Gonzalez from the vehicle and attempted CPR, but she died a short time later at a hospital.

The other driver, 22-year-old Thomas Zerbo of Ocean City, was being treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The accident closed down a stretch of the highway for more than two hours.
