Woman Killed By Train In Aberdeen
A New Jersey Transit train struck and killed a woman just east of the Matawan-Aberdeen rail station.
The train had left New York City with about 600 passengers aboard when the incident occurred Sunday night.
NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. tells the Asbury Park Press witnesses said the woman went under the crossing gate and the engineer was unable to stop the train in time.
Her name has not been released.
Durso says there have been 15 suicides or apparent suicides by train in the state this year.
