Agency officials say 51-year-old Tara Everett of Tuckerton was killed in the accident, which occurred around 10:10 p.m. Saturday in Galloway Township.

NJ Transit has said Everett was walking on the railroad right of way when she was hit.

There were no reported injuries among the crew or the 70 passengers aboard the train, which was heading north from Atlantic City to Philadelphia.

Train service in the area was suspended while NJ Transit police investigated the accident. Passengers were put on buses to continue their journeys.
