Woman Dies in Bloomfield Fire

Authorities say a house fire in Bloomfield has claimed the life of a woman in a wheelchair.

Police found 65-year-old Esther Utkewicz in her wheelchair at the front door of her burning home on Haines Street Tuesday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her 44-year-old son, James, was found in the house. He's in critical condition.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
