MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP (AP) — Charges have been filed in a hit-and-run accident that left a teenage girl dead.

Monmouth County prosecutors say 49-year-old Toni Marletta, of Middletown Township, was charged Wednesday with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a fatality and several motor vehicle violations. Her bail was set at $150,000 cash, and it wasn't known if she has retained a lawyer.

The charges stem from a July 7 accident that caused the death of 15-year-old Morrissa Procopio. Authorities say the Atlantic Highlands teen was trying to cross Route 36 when she was struck.

Authorities say Marletta's vehicle was found later that night parked outside her house, and it had damage consistent with the collision.

Marletta faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the leaving the scene of an accident charge.
