It looks like winter will not go out quietly with northwest New Jersey expected to pick up a few inches of snow tonight.

Snow will begin falling this afternoon in Morris, Sussex, Bergen and Passaic counties that will leave up to an inch before turning to rain in the evening, prompting a Winter Weather Advisory to be issued by the National Weather Service.

While the majority of the state will receive rain from this storm,  meteorologist Alan Kasper expects all areas to start as snow, leaving up to an inch before changing to rain. The rain will be heavy at times before ending on Tuesday morning.

New Jersey Transit will cross honor tickets starting Monday at 4 p.m. and continuing all day Tuesday

Meanwhile, New England will get a more wintry blast from this storm with 3-6 inches of snow expected to fall in the Hudson Valley and interior Connecticut. Eastern Massachusetts and northern New England are preparing for 10-14 inches of snow.

Spring arrives Wednesday at 7:02AM.
