The short answer: wait.

According the New Jersey Department of Treasury, the state agency that handles damage claims, it could take 3-to-6 months to resolve your claim.

Once a claim is filed, the registered owner of a damaged vehicle has to file via mail a Notice of Claim within 90 days to the Department of Treasury's Division of Risk Management. The claim has to includes an estimate for repairs, an official police report and proof of insurance.

The claim is reviewed and there's no guarantee that payment will be approved.
