The University’s Board of Governors has approved a 2 and a half percent tuition hike, and a 1-point-9 percent increase for room and board.

Rutgers Finance boss Dan Schulman says “overall charges for the typical student living on campus will increase by 2-point-2 percent, taking overall fees from about 23 thousand 519, to 24 thousand 44 – or a 525 dollar increase.

Board of Governors Chair Ralph Izzo says this is the second straight year that in-state tuition charges will increase either at, or below the rate of inflation.

Before the Board approved the hikes, several students asked for a tuition freeze, and about 50 students held a peaceful demonstration outside the building.
