After work tonight, I am going to the Meridian Center for Sleep Medicine at Ocean Medical Center to pick up a machine that should tell me if I have sleep apnea.

My wife has told me that I’ve been snoring for years, but it never occurred to me that there might be an underlying condition causing it. I just thought some people snored and some didn’t. If I do have sleep apnea, I assume I’ll get a C-Pap machine to regulate my breathing.

In talking to people who live with them, they almost universally praise the difference they have made in their lives. They talk about not being tired anymore, of waking up refreshed and rested, and not falling asleep at meetings. If it can make that dramatic a change in my life, I’ll be all about using it nightly. Plus, it will reduce the amount of marital discord in the house. Of course, there’s a chance that i don’t have sleep apnea, I’m just a snorer, in which case I’ll be right back where I started from.
