Don’t Smoke Pot in a Police Parking Lot
A group of north Jersey men have been charged with possession of drugs after a state trooper found them smoking marijuana in the parking lot of the Totowa Barracks.
Trooper Erik Tapia didn't have to wait long for some action on his shift. Preparing for a night on patrol, Tapia got a strong whiff of marijuana. He walked over to a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, a few cars away, and saw three men and small bags of suspected marijuana in plain sight.
The men, residents of Paterson and West Paterson, were waiting for a fourth member who was filling out paperwork inside the police station.
According to the State Police, the men had been smoking weed in the car; they were arrested and the car was searched, revealing 15 small plastic bags of marijuana and more than a dozen suspected ecstasy pills.
