Have we reached a time when gender no longer matters in high school sports? Do we really believe that each sex is as good as the other if not better? Then why not just go all the way and let boys and girls just play on the same teams? Who could it hurt? Perhaps themselves?

Last December, Sydney Phillips parents sued St Theresa's because she wasn't allowed to play on the boys basketball team. Along with that, the New Jersey Interscholastic Athletic Association approved a new policy where transgender athletes no longer need to provide a doctors note to play on the team they identify with. Rather than deal with all the arguing and political correctness, why not just let them play together and see what happens?

If we do it, we do it with no quotas. Just the best athlete, regardless of gender, makes the team. If they can't handle the pressure or physicality then they simply quit. As far as dressing rooms, schools already have two. When it comes to inappropriate touching or grabbing, there are remedies in place, such as reporting it, or kicking the guy in the cup when the cup is not on to name a few.

Once upon a time you would never think of having this conversation, but now that we are, I say stop talking and do something. Whoever wants to play whatever they want to play can play it and let the chips fall where they may!
