The stamps depict children participating in various activities including swimming, climbing, spinning and kicking, are issued in a partnership with the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition.

According to Linn's Stamp News, the first run of the stamps are destroyed because three of the images do not show the children wearing proper protective gear. The skateboarding image does not show the child wearing kneepads and another child doing a headstand is not wearing a helmet. A cannonball into a swimming pool is considered dangerous.

The stamps were already printed up when USPS Marketing chief Nagisa Manabe  showed them to first lady Michelle Obama for the first time. It was apparently the first time the Sports Council saw the stamps.

When the website Twitchy.com posted the story about the stamps, some of their readers created their own stamps showing unsafe activity.
