The rain, the clouds, and the cool temperatures will continue to make for dreary weather conditions in the Garden State for several more days.

The simple answer: Rain chances of some degree will continue in New Jersey's forecast through at least Sunday, flip-flopping between periods of steady rain, scattered showers, and isolated showers. Rumbles of thunder will be possible along the way too. We certainly need the rain, but this broken-record wet forecast is getting a bit monotonous!

We're seeing yet another soggy start for Wednesday morning, with bands of light to moderate rain affecting mostly the northern half of New Jersey. From Monmouth and Ocean counties through South Jersey, your day is beginning with just a few showers.

Models suggest another round of rain will push through New Jersey through Wednesday afternoon. This forecast remains very difficult to pinpoint, so I think it's just smart to keep an umbrella handy for the next few days. Meanwhile, the rain and clouds will keep temperatures at bay yet again, with highs limited to the mid 50s. That's similar to Tuesday, and still 10 to 15 degrees below normal for early May.

In addition to the rain, the National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the Jersey Shore from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday. This evening's high tide cycle is expected to be slightly higher than normal (only by a foot or two). That may lead to minor flooding along tidal waterways. Officials may decide to briefly close roads that become covered in water.

Otherwise, the threat for serious flooding and severe weather will remain low through this weekend.

We'll stay damp for Wednesday night as well, with hit or miss showers expected overnight. Skies will remain cloudy and lows will be seasonably cool, in the mid to upper 40s.

Thursday's rain looks to be more of a "scattered" showers variety, which means part of the state may stay dry for part or most of the day. Clouds will still dominate the sky, and we pick up a stiffer breeze to about 20 mph. Forecast high temperatures increase slightly to the upper 50s.

And our forecast for Friday calls for near 60-degree temperatures. But, of course, it comes with more rain. Friday's rain looks to become steady and/or heavy through the midday hours. So Friday could be a bit of a soaker for part of New Jersey.

More improvements will come for the weekend. Isolated showers are possible Saturday morning before we hopefully see some clearer and drier skies by the afternoon. High temperatures will be much closer to early May averages, topping out in the mid to upper 60s on Saturday afternoon.

Our grand savior from the dreary, damp weather will be a weak cold front expected to push through New Jersey on Sunday morning. While the front itself may fire off a few showers in the mid morning to early afternoon hours, the air mass behind this front will be much drier. As dry air penetrates New Jersey's atmosphere through Sunday afternoon, skies should clear away to sunshine. Temperatures will warm accordingly

Once we get rid of the rain, mild and quiet weather will make for a pleasant start to next week. Highs will be near 70 degrees, with abundant sunshine expected for at least Monday and Tuesday.
