While we have fun on the show there are times when radio helps solve real-life problems. We received a call from a woman named Sheri from Edison, who was desperate to get help for her son, who is disabled.

Sheri is working but said that she had fallen on tough times and was having trouble making ends meet. Her financial troubles had led to the power being shut off in her home. The power was turned off right in the middle of some of the hottest days of the year. As Sheri noted, the hot temperatures can cause her son to have seizures, so they were forced to sleep in the car.

I immediately told Sheri that we would put her in touch with Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno's office to get her and her son the help that they need.

We decided to check in with Sheri the next day to see how she made out and we received wonderful news! Not only did someone from Lt. Guadagno's office help her, but a good Samaritan paid off he electric bill and her power was restored!

It was such a great moment to hear the happiness in Sheri's voice and to know she got the help she needed!

Listen to Sheri's calls to the show in the YouTube clip above.
