It’s too soon to be shopping for Christmas, but already the displays are out in force.

We went shopping for the usual groceries and paper goods at our nearby Sam’s Club when, in our faces, stood an array of Christmas trees and decorations. One of the toys was a doll that craps out charms.
Just what we need, an incontinent toy with a bowel problem. (If only it crapped out 20 dollar bills!)

Thinking that we weren’t out of the month of September (this was last Friday); I thought that retailers want us to just blow past Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Couple that with a report that some stores might be open all day Thanksgiving for Christmas shoppers got me to thinking how we rush the clock.

But if we could slow down the clock and go back to a simpler time – try and remember how much you anticipated the holidays; and what your favorite toy was.

Could have been like mine was – the Remco Caraville – a makeshift radio and transmitter all in one.

Something I used to use to terrorize my aunt who lived upstairs from us at the time.

Terrorize in that, since she had little patience for us kids, I’d tune my Caraville to the “beautiful music” station she used to listen to – and jam the frequency with my own announcements – much to her surprise and chagrin.

I’ll always cherish that thing!

But what was the one toy you most anticipated getting for Christmas?
